The uneventful life of business-man Charles Driggs suddenly changes when he meets the wild and sexy Lulu. When he accepts her offer to drive him back to his office, she instead takes him out of town and on a trip, leaving behind his old life. Posing as a married couple, Charles and Audrey (which turns out to be Lulu’s real name) visit her mother and her highschool reunion. At this reunion they meet Audrey’s violent ex-husband Ray, who’s just released from jail. When Ray makes it clear that he wants Audrey back, that’s when the real trouble begins.

The film follows the zany exploits of the proprietors, guests and various colorful island denizans, as they break in the new “Club Paradise”.

An American flyer who joined the RAF before his country was in the war is recovering from a leg injury in Jerusalem. Through an English friend he meets a quiet Jewish girl whose close-knit family originally came from Spain. The two are attracted to each other but she is convinced their diverse backgrounds mean it could never work; not only is he a gentile, his father is a protestant minister. So though they keep running into each other in the small community, they find themselves just as frequently parting again.

Jack Murphy is a tough, antisocial cop. Things are not good for him right now; he just killed the brother of a mobster, and is now marked for death. In a squat, in a dodgy suburb, live a ragtag collection of outcasts and don’t-wanna-be’s who survive on a diet of old TV space films, drugs and good music. And the satellite SKYLAB could crash through their roof at any moment…

In this comedy-drama, Manu (Gerard Lanvin) and Momo (Jacques Villeret) are two men who are at first unwittingly involved in a drug deal, but then get quite wittingly involved when they realize that there may be some money to be had in the sale of illegal substances. Once they decide to launch into this dubious vocation, they get caught in several difficult situations. On their supposed way to making a really big splash, they set out to steal drugs from the police station’s confiscated stash. Disguised as cleaning women, the two men grab a vacuum and try to suck up as much white powder as they can. Their antics and the film’s explicit sympathy for the two pushers caused some considerable controversy before the release date in France.
